For Makers: Sewing Alpha Direct
Alpha Direct is rewarding to sew, but it is not the same as a standard knit fabric. The open structure needs a little more care.
- Use a fine ballpoint needle, usually 65/9 or 75/11.
- An overlock or serger gives the cleanest and most stable result.
- Flat seams or bound seams are best for next-to-skin comfort.
- The fabric has limited stretch, so do not treat it like Lycra or Power Stretch.
- Use simple, clean pattern lines for best results.
- Wash at 30°C gentle cycle if pre-shrinking is important.
