For Makers: Sewing Alpha Direct

Alpha Direct is rewarding to sew, but it is not the same as a standard knit fabric. The open structure needs a little more care.

  • Use a fine ballpoint needle, usually 65/9 or 75/11.
  • An overlock or serger gives the cleanest and most stable result.
  • Flat seams or bound seams are best for next-to-skin comfort.
  • The fabric has limited stretch, so do not treat it like Lycra or Power Stretch.
  • Use simple, clean pattern lines for best results.
  • Wash at 30°C gentle cycle if pre-shrinking is important.
  • Do not use high heat when pressing.
